Amazon has renamed Kindle Unlimited. The reading subscription is now called Kindle+, costs $11.99 a month plus tax in the U.S., and now puts audiobooks front and center next to millions of eBooks, comics, manga and magazines. Amazon updated its official guide on October 22, 2026.
How Much Is Kindle+?
Amazon lists Kindle+ at $11.99 per month plus taxes in the U.S. It is a separate subscription: Kindle+ is not included with Prime. Prime members only get a free book every month through Amazon First Reads and access to a curated part of the catalog.
Our math: $11.99 a month is $143.88 a year. If you read two Kindle+ titles a month, that is about $6 per book. At four books a month, it drops to about $3 per book.
What Changes With Kindle+?
The big change is audio. According to Amazon:
- Kindle+ includes millions of eBooks plus thousands of audiobooks, comics, manga and magazines
- Thousands of eBooks come with a companion audiobook, so you can switch between reading and listening at no extra cost
- You can borrow up to 20 titles at a time, with no due dates while your subscription is active
- Magazines include People, Reader’s Digest and Men’s Health
- No Kindle needed: titles work in the free Kindle app on iOS, Android, Mac, PC and the web

Look for the Kindle+ badge and the “Read for Free” button on Kindle book pages. A headphone icon next to the Kindle+ logo means audio narration is included.
How Do You Cancel Kindle+?
You can cancel anytime from the Manage your Kindle+ Subscription page. Your access stays active until your next billing date, then your Kindle+ titles disappear from your library. Amazon says there are no refunds for fees already paid. Amazon also offers a free trial to eligible readers.
Our Take
Kindle+ is a better deal than the old name suggested if you also listen to books, since the companion audiobooks are included. It is a digital subscription, not a box: if you prefer a physical hardcover each month, a book box like Book of the Month is the other way to go.
Best for: readers who finish two or more books a month, and audiobook listeners on a budget. Skip it if: you mostly read new bestsellers, since the catalog does not include every title.
