VeganCuts Snack Box Review – February 2019

VeganCuts Snack Box is a monthly subscription that sends you 10 or more vegan snack products to try. Today, I will be reviewing the February 2019 box!

VeganCuts included a little pamphlet with information about each item, as well as 6 coupon codes. This box actually included a few bonus items that aren’t listed on the card. VeganCuts wrote that “Any extra goodies you find in this box are a token of our love.” I am not sure if they include bonus items every month, or if this was a Valentine’s gift for subscribers.

There were 15 total products in my box, which was more than I was expecting! Several of them were full-sized products, which I always appreciate.

Pur Mints in Tangerine Tango

These tasty mints are aspartame free and sweetened with 100% xylitol, which reduces plaque buildup and washes away bacteria. I loved the mints’ citrusy taste, and they immediately made my mouth feel fresher. There are several varieties of these mints, and I want to try all of the flavors now!

Yellowbird Serrano Hot Sauce

I was so excited to see this in my box! I have a sriracha sauce from Yellowbird, which I put on just about everything. This serrano hot sauce was just as delicious. This is Yellowbird’s most popular flavor, and it combines serrano peppers, cucumber, and carrots to create a picklish, spicy flavor. I used this on chilaquiles the other day, and it was amazing!

Avelina Selecta Cinnamon Oatmeal

This instant oatmeal has no added sugar, and uses gluten free oat flakes. The first time I made it, I followed the instructions (combine 3 tbsp oatmeal with 1 cup boiling water), and it never thickened up. I significantly reduced the water the second time, and it was a much better texture. I can’t say I really care for the product, because I like my oatmeal to be more on the sweet side. However, it was tasty once I stirred in some brown sugar.

Zellee Blueberry Grape Organic Fruit Gel

Oh my goodness, this was basically jello in a squeezy tube and I LOVED it. It is so fun to drink, and it is made with real fruit. The gel is an excellent source of vitamins A, C, and D – it’s perfect to pack in a lunchbox for a vitamin boost!

Sweetsmith Candy Co Candycane Chocolate Peanut Brittle

Okay, so there was a lot going on in this snack. The peanut brittle was dipped in chocolate, and sprinkled with candy cane pieces and peanuts. I love peanut brittle, and I think the chocolate is a lovely addition. I wish I could have tried it without the candy cane pieces. I’m not a big fan of candy canes, and I think it overwhelmed the flavor of the snack. However, it was still pretty good and I would eat it again.

Biena Rockin’ Ranch Chickpea Snacks

I have received roasted chickpeas in a couple other subscription boxes, and they are always so delicious. I love their crunchy texture, and they are like a healthy alternative to chips. This is definitely my favorite chickpea snack that I’ve tried so far. The ranch makes me think of Cool Ranch Doritos! All the delicious flavor, with none of the guilt.

Tosi Cashew Super Bites

SuperBites is a superfood snack bar made from organic simple ingredients such as cashews, flaxseed, and chia seeds. The bar was hard to chew, and not very tasty. However, it is a good way to get a boost of energy mid-day.

Flackers Sea Salt Flax Seed Crackers

This product gets a lot of hate online; people either love Flackers or despise them. Thankfully, I fall on the “love” end of the spectrum. These healthy crackers are made from organic flax seeds, organic apple cider vinegar, and sea salt. Nothing else! They actually taste like seaweed to me, and I think they are tasty. My fiance tried one and absolutely hated it. I am personally happy to have received this product, but I am sure there were many subscribers who weren’t thrilled with it.

Dandies All Natural Vanilla Marshmallows

Most marshmallows are made with gelatin, which is an animal-based product made from boiling skin, ligaments, and bones with water. Pretty gross, right? Thankfully, we can enjoy tasty marshmallows with none of the icky bits. Dandies makes marshmallows that do not contain high fructose corn syrup or gelatin, and they are non-GMO. I am saving these to have with hot chocolate, but they are supposed to be indistinguishable from traditional marshmallows.

Kuli Kuli Organic Moringa Green Smoothie

This smoothie mix is a convenient way to get your greens and protein on the go. Just stir it right into some water! Morgina is an insanely nutrient packed plant, and it supports brain health and can help lower blood pressure. This single-serve packet is packed with 8 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber. Plus, it has chocolate and peanut butter flavoring to make the greens more palatable.

Alter Eco Organic Dark Chocolate Coconut Clusters

This was definitely my favorite product in the box! I am a sucker for dark chocolate, and these tasty coconut flakes were coated in 70% Ecuadorian dark chocolate. They are crispy, and are coated in a little bit of sea salt for the perfect combination of sweet and salty. I am obsessed!! They are actually pretty low in sugar, and are a health-conscious snack. Trust me, they taste like they should have a lot more calories. I need another back ASAP!

HerbaLand Protein Gummies

These vegan gummy supplements contain yellow pea protein, which is essential to building muscle mass and aiding muscle recovery. These are the perfect vitamins if you are trying to bodybuild, or if you are vegan and trying to supplement your daily protein intake. A pouch is one serving, and contains 27 grams of fiber 10 grams of protein, and only 1 gram of sugar.

Vicia Cafe Mocha Vegan Energy Bar

I have to get up at 4:30 in the morning for work, and sometimes I just can’t get going without a strong jolt of coffee. This bar contains 35 mg of natural caffeine, which is about 1/3 of a normal cup of coffee. It isn’t strong enough for me to cut out coffee, and it’s probably more suitable for a pick-me-up mid-day when you don’t have access to a coffeepot. As far as the taste, it’s pretty bland and tastes like a standard chocolate protein bar.

Justin’s Cashew Butter Cups

This is another winner for me! Reese’s cups are one of my all time favorite candies. And these… well, they don’t really taste like Reese’s, but they are good in their own way. The cashew filling is salty and rich, and the dark chocolate coating is sweet and totally crave-worthy. I see these all the time at the market, but never tried them for some reason. Well, I will definitely be picking some up now!

Oh Oh Cookie Dough Protein Bar

I haven’t really been impressed with the protein bars in this box. This one didn’t really taste like cookie dough – it just seemed like a regular old chocolate protein bar. I also don’t like the chalky feeling of most protein bars and have never really enjoyed eating them, so perhaps I am not the target audience for this product.

Other than the protein bars, I was very satisfied with the items in February’s box. The coconut clusters and the cashew cups were standout items for me! The box also had a great value – $22.95 for 15 health-conscious snacks? That deal is hard to pass up. This box is a great way to access new and exciting vegan treats that might not be available at your grocery store.
