ColourPop has launched its first advent calendar, Colour Me Merry, at $99 on colourpop.com. You get 25 surprises, which works out to $3.96 a door, and ColourPop puts the contents at “over $200” in stated value, with 16 full-size products. Here is what is inside and whether the math holds up.
What’s in the ColourPop Colour Me Merry Advent Calendar?
ColourPop describes 25 surprises mixing new products and fan favorites for lips, eyes and cheeks, plus never-before-seen accessories. The product page lists these items and shades:
- Mini Fresh Kiss lip balms in Strawberry Milk, Buttery Pancakes and Caramel Latte
- Cloud Whip Blurring Lip Liners in Mochaccino, Beige Flag and Honeymoon Phase
- Lippie Glosses in Clear Things Up, A Moment and Never Misses
- Brow Boss Gel
- Mini Vanilla Cake Lip Mask and Vanilla Cake Lip Scrub
- Face Stamp and Face Crystals
- Six pressed shades: Look Up, Past Curfew, Booked & Busy, Pop Off, Offstage and Nutty 4 U
The official photos also show a red hand mirror, keychain charms and a heart ornament. ColourPop has not published a door-by-door list, so we can’t say which item hides behind which number.
Our Math: $3.96 a Door, About $8 of Stated Value per Item
At $99 for 25 items, each door costs $3.96. ColourPop says the contents are worth over $200, so each item carries about $8 of stated value on average, roughly twice what you pay. That figure comes from the brand, not from us, and it includes minis and accessories. For comparison, ColourPop’s Disney A Very Mickey Christmas collection costs $125 for nine products, so the advent calendar gives you more pieces for less money, but in smaller formats for part of the lineup.
Our Take: A Strong First Try for Lip Lovers
Most of the calendar leans on lips: balms, liners, glosses, a mask and a scrub. If you already wear ColourPop lip products, this is an easy way to try new shades at under $4 each. If you want a full makeup wardrobe, the six pressed shades and one brow gel won’t replace a palette. The accessories are cute but add little real value. This is a limited edition, and ColourPop calls it a first, so stock may not last until December. We haven’t tested the products.
